Strict Desilting Drive Conducted Ahead of Monsoon in Sarakki and Bommanahalli

Bengaluru South City Corporation officials conducted inspections and issued urgent directions for desilting and stormwater drain cleaning works in Sarakki and Bommanahalli areas as part of monsoon preparedness measures.

Key Details:

• Bengaluru South Zone Commissioner Sri K.N. Ramesh inspected desilting works near Sindhoora Kalyana Mantapa on Outer Ring Road in Sarakki, J.P. Nagar.

• Officials were directed to immediately remove accumulated silt and waste from roadside drains and stormwater drains.

• Instructions were issued to remove slabs covering drains to enable complete cleaning of garbage and weeds.

• Engineers were directed to ensure that plastic waste at Rajakaluve bridge junctions does not obstruct water flow.

• Continuous plastic waste removal operations were ordered in sensitive flood-prone areas.

• Under the leadership of Additional Commissioner (Development) Dr. Naveen Kumar Raju, the Disaster Management team inspected multiple locations in Bommanahalli Zone.

14th Cross

• Madiwala Lake

• Oxford College area

• Anugraha Layout

• Water flow conditions

• Canal encroachment clearance

• Officials were instructed to complete precautionary flood mitigation works urgently before the monsoon season.
