Bengaluru South City Corporation cleared 1.60 km of encroached footpaths across multiple locations to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Key Details:

  • Bengaluru South City Corporation removed encroachments from 1.60 km of footpaths on July 21, 2026.
  • The drive was conducted under the directions of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Commissioner K.N. Ramesh.
  • The initiative aims to ensure safe and unobstructed pedestrian movement across the corporation limits.
  • Encroachments on major and internal roads were cleared with support from traffic police, law and order police, and other departments.
  • In Ward 1Padmanabhanagara, 0.60 km of footpath along Kanakapura Main Road was cleared.
  • The Kanakapura Main Road operation removed 5 shops/kiosks and 2 handcarts.
  • An additional 1.00 km of footpath was cleared in the BommanahalliAnekal Adigas Hotel Road and Padmanabhanagar areas.
  • Overall, the operation removed 13 shops/kiosks, 6 handcarts, 2 AC sheet projections/canopies, and 10 advertisement poles/boards.
  • The corporation said similar footpath encroachment clearance drives will continue to improve public safety and accessibility.
