South City Corporation Clears 10.40 km of Footpath Encroachments Across Multiple Constituencies

The Bengaluru South City Corporation continued its footpath encroachment clearance drive for the second consecutive day, removing encroachments along 10.40 km of footpaths across several major roads. The initiative aims to improve pedestrian safety and ensure unobstructed public pathways.

Key Details:

• The drive was conducted on 2 July 2026 under the directions of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.

• Commissioner K. N. Ramesh inspected the demolition of illegal stairs, sheds, street shops, and other encroachments on major roads in the Jayanagar Assembly Constituency.

• Encroachments were cleared along:

Jayanagar 11th Main Road to Shalini Ground

• Jayanagar 30th Cross to 9th Main Road

• JP Nagar 21st Main Road to Outer Ring Road

• Bannerghatta Main Road between 28th Main Road and BTM Metro Station

• Jayadeva Hospital Metro Station to 39th Main Road

• Bipin Rawat Park Circle to Gururaja Layout

• 80 Feet Road near R.V. Institute of Technology and Management

• Sir M. Visvesvaraya Road

• HSR Layout 14th Main Road to Jakkasandra Circle

• Jyoti Nivas College Road, Koramangala

• BTM 2nd Stage

• Sarjapura Main Road and Kudlu Main Road

• A total of 39 illegal street shops and 104 footpath encroachments were removed.

• Around 127 personnel, supported by 30 tractors, JCBs, and cranes, participated in the operation.

• The Commissioner stated that similar drives will continue in compliance with the High Court’s directions to improve pedestrian safety and traffic movement.
