National-Level News Photography Competition and Exhibition Announced by Karnataka Media Academy

The Karnataka Media Academy has announced a national-level news photography competition titled “Focus on News” for professional news photographers. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries, and 50 selected photographs will be exhibited.

Exhibition:
An exhibition featuring 50 selected photographs will be organized.

Competition Conditions

• Each participant may submit a maximum of two self-captured news photographs that have been published.

• There are no geographical restrictions on where the photographs were taken.

• Participation is restricted to professional news photographers.

• Applicants must submit either:

An editor’s confirmation letter, or

• An attested copy of a journalist accreditation card issued by a State Information and Public Relations Department or the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

• Photographs must not contain names, titles or watermarks.

• Images must be submitted only in JPEG format.

• Images should be suitable for printing at 20 × 30 inches, with:

300 DPI resolution

• Minimum file size of 5 MB

• Mobile phone photographs will not be accepted.

• Images must be natural and should not have any elements added or removed.

• AI-generated images will not be considered.

• Participants must submit:

Filled application form downloaded from the Academy website

• Passport-size photograph

• Accreditation card or editor’s certificate

• Photographs

• Entries received after 5:00 PM on 30 June 2025 will not be considered.

• Three experienced judges will select the award-winning and exhibition photographs, and their decision will be final.
