Bengaluru North City Corporation conducted a 6.0 km footpath walk near Yelahanka Lake on 08 March 2026 as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26 Mega Cleanliness Drive. The event marked International Women’s Day and aimed to promote clean, safe, and walkable public spaces with participation from citizens and civic officials.




Key Details
- The Mega Cleanliness Drive is being conducted across all divisions of Bengaluru North City Corporation from 01 March to 08 March 2026.
- The initiative is organized under the guidance of Commissioner Sri Pommala Sunil Kumar.
- On 08 March 2026, a 6.0 km footpath walk was conducted near Yelahanka Lake starting at 7:00 AM.
- Around 250 participants, including nearly 200 citizens from different age groups, took part.
- Participants were asked to identify obstacles on footpaths and document them through photographs, especially locations forcing pedestrians onto roads.
- Observations during the walk indicated that the footpaths around the lake were clean, green, and free of obstacles.
- On the occasion of International Women’s Day, recreational competitions were organized for women along the walking route.
- Certificates were later distributed to corporation officials and sanitation workers in recognition of their contributions to cleanliness efforts.




Milestone Achieved
- A total of 122.68 km of footpath walks have now been completed across Bengaluru North City Corporation.
- Earlier 44 km had been covered.
- 72.68 km were completed on 05 March 2026 across multiple divisions.
- The 6.0 km walk at Yelahanka Lake increased the total coverage to 122.68 km.

Swachh Survekshan Activities (01–08 March 2026)
- March 01: 42 plogging drives with 1,823 RWAs; 35.65 tonnes of waste cleared and 81 vacant sites cleaned.
- March 02: 39 plogging drives with 1,476 participants; 20.5 tonnes of waste removed.
- March 03: 67 blackspot beautification and GVP elimination activities; 87 tonnes of waste cleared.
- March 04: Green and dry leaf clearance across wards with 818 participants; 104 tonnes removed.
- March 05: Footpath walks across divisions covering 72.68 km with 2,839 participants.
- March 06: Quiz, painting, and rangoli competitions with 2,065 students from 46 schools.
- March 07: Compost Santhe awareness programme with participation of 1,500 citizens.
- March 08: 6.0 km footpath walk near Yelahanka Lake with recreational competitions for women.
