Maintain Quality Standards in Road Asphalting Works, Says Additional Commissioner

The Additional Commissioner (Development) of Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Venkatachalapathy, inspected multiple infrastructure projects under the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development Programme (CMIDP) and Special Infrastructure Programme (SIP). During the inspection, officials were directed to complete all works on schedule while maintaining high construction quality and ensuring proper drainage, road safety, and pedestrian access.

Key Details:

  • Road asphalting on Lalbagh Fort Road (Shivashankar Circle to Minerva Circle), opposite KIMS Hospital, is being carried out over approximately 530 metres under the Special Infrastructure Programme (SIP).
  • Core cutting tests were conducted at two locations to verify the quality and thickness of the asphalt layer.
  • Officials were instructed to increase the height of road medians where required to improve traffic safety.
  • Immediate repairs were ordered for roadside drains damaged during road works to ensure proper rainwater flow.
  • Construction debris, waste materials, and abandoned vehicles obstructing footpaths were ordered to be removed without delay.
  • During the inspection of the 650-metre T. Mari Gowda Road stretch (Main Gate to West Gate of Lalbagh), officials were directed to desilt adjacent drains and clear roadside waste.
  • At Wilson Garden 8th Cross, desilting works covering 240 metres of drains under the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development Programme (CMIDP) were reviewed.
  • Officials were instructed to remove silt thoroughly and construct shoulder drains where necessary to improve monsoon drainage.
  • Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Superintendent Engineer Chandrashekhar, Executive Engineer Pradeep, and other officials were present during the inspection.
