Bengaluru East City Corporation has completed the acquisition of 24 guntas of government land required for the long-pending Hope Farm Underpass project. Commissioner D.S. Ramesh stated that the land transfer and removal of encroachments will enable faster completion of the project and help address traffic congestion along the Whitefield Road corridor.

  • Commissioner D.S. Ramesh conducted inspections across Bengaluru East City Corporation limits to review:

Protection of government and corporation properties

  • Removal of encroachments
  • Land acquisition for infrastructure projects
  • A 24-gunta government land parcel in Survey No. 40/2, Pattandur Agrahara Village, has been transferred from the Revenue Department to Bengaluru East City Corporation.
  • The land, valued at approximately ₹40 crore, had been linked to encroachment and acquisition-related issues for nearly a decade, delaying the Hope Farm Underpass project.
  • Corporation officials confirmed that the required land is now under civic possession, allowing project works to move forward.
  • Officials have been instructed to:

Accelerate underpass construction

  • Complete the project within the next 3–4 months
  • Coordinate relocation of utilities including water pipelines, electrical cables, OFC networks and traffic signals
  • Maintain construction quality standards while meeting timelines

Government Land Protection Measures

Channasandra Village Inspection

The Commissioner inspected government land in Survey No. 115 of Channasandra Village, including:

  • Approximately 34 acres of government gomala land
  • Approximately 4 acres of other government property
Directions issued:
  • Complete boundary demarcation
  • Maintain updated land records
  • Install government property signboards
  • Prevent future encroachments through continuous monitoring
  • Conduct a joint inspection by Revenue Department and Survey Division officials
  • Submit a detailed status report

Corporation Property Protection

The Commissioner also inspected approximately 7,225 square metres of Corporation land near Brigade Lakefront Apartments, extending from Outer Ring Road to Seetharampalya Lake, where a road development project has been proposed.

Officials were directed to:

  • Complete boundary demarcation based on land records
  • Identify and remove encroachments
  • Initiate legal action against illegal occupation
  • Install fencing on identified Corporation land
  • Recover and secure civic assets
