Fraud Alert: Misuse of Commissioner’s Identity via WhatsApp in North Corporation

Bengaluru North City Corporation has issued a public advisory warning citizens about fraudulent WhatsApp messages being circulated using the identity of the Commissioner to solicit money.

Key Details:

• Unknown individuals are impersonating Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar using his name, designation, and photograph

• Fraudulent messages are being sent via WhatsApp from international numbers

• A message was reportedly sent to Shri Amaresh H., Secretary, State Election Commission

• The intent appears to be financial fraud by requesting money under false pretenses

• The Corporation has clarified that no official requests for financial assistance are made via personal WhatsApp messages

• A formal complaint has been filed at Amruthahalli Police Station

• Legal action has been requested against those responsible
