Footpath Encroachment Clearance Drive Covers 15 km Across Bengaluru South City Corporation

Bengaluru South City Corporation cleared approximately 15 kilometres of encroachments from footpaths across multiple divisions on 6 July 2026, as part of an ongoing initiative to improve pedestrian safety and ensure smooth public movement. The operation was carried out under the directions of Commissioner K. N. Ramesh, following instructions from Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.

Key Details:

• Around 15 km of footpaths were cleared of encroachments across the corporation limits.

• The operation targeted unauthorised sheds, concrete steps and other structures obstructing pedestrian movement.

• Police personnel and officials from multiple departments coordinated the drive

Division-wise Progress

• Jayanagar Division: 3.00 km cleared along Bannerghatta Road Outer Ring Road stretch and 28th Main Road in Jayanagar.

• Anjanapura & Beguru Division: 6.10 km cleared on Kothanur Main Road, Uttarahalli Main Road and Begur-Koppa Road, including Wards 36 (Beguru), 49 (Uttarahalli) and 51 (Subramanyapura).

• BTM Layout Division: 1.70 km cleared in Ward 28 (Koramangala East) and Ward 18 (Vishweshwara Kuvempu Ward).

• Padmanabhanagara Division: 1.00 km cleared in Wards 1 (Padmanabhanagara) and 2 (Kadirena Halli).

• HSR Layout Division: 2.20 km cleared in Ward 70 (Iblur) and Ward 31 (Kasavanahalli).

• Bommanahalli Division: 1.00 km cleared around Puttenahalli Main Road and Sarakki Lake Road in Ward 53 (Jarganahalli).

Resources Deployed

• More than 180 personnel and workers participated in the operation.

• 8 JCB machines were used to remove encroachments.

• More than 12 tractors were deployed for debris and waste removal.
