Expedite Rajakaluve Demarcation and Land Acquisition from Bellandur Weir to Old Airport Road: BECC Commissioner

Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) Commissioner D.S. Ramesh chaired a coordination meeting of multiple departments on 1 August 2026 to discuss issuing the Preliminary Notification (Form-1) for the land acquisition required for Rajakaluve (stormwater drain) conservation, buffer zone development and service road construction from the Bellandur Waste Weir/Outlet to Virginia Mall on Old Airport Road.

Accurate Boundary Demarcation First

The Commissioner directed officials to identify and verify the original Rajakaluve boundary and buffer zone strictly from official records through joint field inspections — coordinating land records, survey maps and departmental records so that there is no ambiguity in demarcation. Project plans are to be finalised on that basis, and the acquisition process expedited with effective inter-departmental coordination.

Varthur–Gunjur Road Project Also Reviewed

The meeting also reviewed the land acquisition being undertaken by Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) for the Varthur–Gunjur Road Development Project under GBA jurisdiction. The Commissioner directed officials to utilise land already reserved through relinquishment deeds executed by landowners at the time of layout approval, issue notices to the required landowners, expedite the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) process, and complete the project within the stipulated timeline.

Additional Commissioners Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar (Development) and Dr. Pragna Ammembala (Revenue), Joint Commissioner Dr. Dakshayini K. (TDR), B-SMILE technical directors and chief engineers, executive engineers (Storm Water Drains and Lakes), and officials from BDA, Land Records, Town Planning and the Revenue Department attended.

Relevance for property owners: the Form-1 notification, buffer zone demarcation and TDR directions will directly affect properties along the Bellandur–Old Airport Road stormwater drain alignment and the Varthur–Gunjur road corridor.
