Bengaluru East City Corporation has directed officials to expedite the transfer of land required for major road widening and underpass projects to reduce traffic congestion and ensure timely completion of infrastructure works. Commissioner D. S. Ramesh chaired a coordination meeting with Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) officials to review pending land transfers and inter-departmental coordination.
Key Details:
- Commissioner D. S. Ramesh instructed KIADB and Corporation officials to fast-track the transfer of lands reserved for road widening, parks, and open spaces through Relinquishment Deeds (RDs).
- The review focused on roads within KIADB-developed industrial areas where land transfer is pending.
Roads identified for widening:
- ITPL Main Road (Outer Ring Road to Hope Farm Junction) – 45 metres
- Whitefield Main Road (Varthur Kodi to Hope Farm Junction) – 45 metres
- New Horizon School Road (Outer Ring Road to Gear School Road) – 45 metres
- Goshala Road (Outer Ring Road via Bagmane Tech Park to Sathya Sai Hospital) – 24 metres
- Dinnur Main Road (ITPL Main Road to Railway Crossing) – 18 metres
- Officials were directed to prioritise land transfers where building approvals have already been granted along both sides of these roads.
- Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar conducted field inspections with KIADB officials to review properties pending transfer.
Underpass Project Reviews
- Big Bazaar Junction
Officials reviewed pending property transfers required for the ongoing one-way underpass project.
- KIADB was instructed to complete transfers without delay to avoid project setbacks.
- Hope Farm Junction
A review was conducted on pending land acquisition for the Channasandra Main Road underpass.
- Corporation officials were directed to coordinate with KIADB and the district administration to complete remaining acquisition formalities.
- Approximately 4.10 metres of land from HM Tech Company is required for road widening, including relocation of the compound wall, security cabin, and entrance gate.
Focus on Traffic Decongestion
The Commissioner stated that increasing vehicle numbers across the Bengaluru East City Corporation require faster implementation of road widening, underpasses, and alternative road networks. Timely land transfer is expected to help complete projects within schedule and improve traffic flow.
Inter-Departmental Coordination
Officials from KIADB, the Revenue Department, Town Planning Division, TDR Division, and other Corporation departments have been directed to coordinate closely to resolve pending cases and accelerate project execution.
