Engineers Asked to Plan Bengaluru West Infrastructure With 30-Year Vision

Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V. directed engineers to focus on long-term urban planning, scientific infrastructure development, and effective asset utilization during the “Budget-to-Action Plan” workshop held for the 2026–27 budget implementation.

  • The workshop was organized on May 8 for Corporation officials to discuss the utilization of the ₹4,732 crore budget allocated for 2026–27.
  • Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V. emphasized the theme “Our Ward, Our Pride” while addressing engineers and officials.
  • Officials were instructed to plan civic infrastructure projects with a 30-year perspective.
  • Focus areas included:

Road development

  • Desilting works
  • Park development
  • Footpath improvement
  • Public space activation
  • Asset monetization
  • Engineers were advised to improve the durability and efficient use of existing civic assets instead of focusing only on maintenance expenditure.
  • The Commissioner encouraged the use of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models for city beautification and infrastructure improvements.
  • A target was set to develop at least 10 km of walkable footpaths.
  • Officials were instructed to conduct road audits across all ten divisions under the “Namma Raste Namma Kaipidi” initiative.
