East City Directs Monsoon Preparedness and Building Safety Compliance

Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh reviewed the progress of engineering and development works across the Corporation limits and directed officials to expedite road projects, storm water drain maintenance, pothole filling, building safety enforcement, and grievance redressal ahead of the monsoon season.

Key Details:

• Roads under the CMIDP and SSIP projects where civil works are completed must be asphalted by 09 June 2026.

• Remaining works under CMIDP and SSIP are to be completed on priority within stipulated timelines.

• Junction improvement works under the Suraksha-75 Programme are to commence after finalization of designs.

• Desilting and maintenance of concrete and earthen storm water drains will be undertaken through Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC).

• Officials have been directed to address all waterlogging-prone locations identified by the Traffic Police.

• Road-cut restoration works caused by utility agencies will be undertaken, with restoration costs to be recovered from the responsible agencies.

• A comprehensive action plan for pothole filling during the monsoon season is to be prepared and tender processes initiated immediately.

• Notices will be issued to owners of residential and commercial buildings with compound walls exceeding permissible National Building Code (NBC) height limits.

• Dilapidated and structurally unsafe buildings will be identified, with demolition and other safety measures undertaken where required.

• Pending complaints on the Sahaya platform are to be resolved within prescribed timelines.

• A special World Environment Day cleanliness drive will be conducted in two wards from each zone, involving sanitation staff, auto-tippers, and ward-level cleaning activities.

• Senior officers have been instructed to continuously monitor monsoon preparedness and infrastructure projects.
