Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh directed officials to accelerate drain desilting works and ensure proper stormwater flow ahead of the monsoon. During inspections across several areas, civic teams also carried out footpath encroachment removal and road cleaning drives.

Drain Desilting Before Monsoon
- Commissioner D.S. Ramesh instructed divisional Executive Engineers to complete desilting of stormwater drains along:
Main roads
- Sub-arterial roads
- Ward roads
- The directive aims to ensure smooth rainwater flow and prevent water stagnation during the monsoon season.
Inspection of Drain Works
- The Commissioner inspected ongoing desilting works at:
K. Narayanapura
- Horamavu
- Kaggadasapura Railway Gate
- Officials were directed to remove silt and waste from drains on priority to avoid flooding and traffic disruptions during heavy rains.
Footpath Encroachment Clearance
- An encroachment removal drive was conducted along 60-Feet Road in AECS Layout.
- The operation covered approximately 1.6 km on both sides of the road, from the Ganesha Temple to ITPL Main Road.
- Removed encroachments included:
Petty shops
- Temporary sheds and canopies
- Roadside railings
- Push carts
- Temporary roofing structures.




Road Cleaning Drive
- A road cleaning operation was carried out from Varthur Kodi to Varthur covering around 700 meters.
- During the drive, teams removed:
Dust accumulation
- Flex banners
- Unauthorized tiles placed outside shops.
- Approximately 6 tonnes of debris and waste were cleared during the operation.
