Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has appealed to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to ease building height restrictions around defence airports in Bengaluru and allocate defence land for key infrastructure projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion.

- Memorandum submitted to Union Defence Minister in New Delhi on April 24
- Request to relax building height restrictions imposed within a 20 km radius of defence airports
- Reference to GSR 751(E), which sets a 150-metre height limit within 15 km radius
- Concern raised over extended restrictions affecting urban development near HAL and Yelahanka air bases
- Proposal to limit restrictions to 15 km instead of 20 km
- Request for defence land allocation for major infrastructure projects:
2 acres near Hebbal for Twin Tunnel Project
- 1.19 acres for Rotary Flyover near Baiyappanahalli Railway Junction
- Land for 60-feet road from Ballari Road to Sarovar Layout (via Military Dairy Farm area)
- 13.7 acres for 24-metre road from Lower Agaram Road to Ejipura Junction
- Assurance provided that defence operations will not be impacted Letters already submitted to Civil Aviation and Defence authorities for review
