Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said the cooperative sector has played a major role in creating leadership opportunities, employment, and economic growth in Karnataka during the inauguration of the new “Sahakara Samruddhi Soudha” administrative office in Bengaluru.

- DCM D K Shivakumar inaugurated the new administrative office “Sahakara Samruddhi Soudha,” which will house the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
- He stated that cooperative societies have helped produce grassroots leaders who later became MLAs and national-level leaders.
- Referring to the strength of cooperative institutions, he remarked that “the chair belongs to whoever sits on it, and the ball belongs to whoever kicks it.”
- Shivakumar highlighted the role of cooperative banks and DCC banks in supporting farmers and industrial growth, including sugar factories.
- He said cooperative institutions have created employment opportunities and improved economic circulation in society.
- The Deputy Chief Minister also warned officials to closely monitor cooperative institutions to prevent financial irregularities and fraud.
- He referred to the Raghavendra Cooperative Bank fraud case while stressing the importance of accountability and trust in cooperative societies.
- Shivakumar said the plan for the new building had originally been proposed during his earlier tenure as Cooperation Minister but was delayed because the old structure was declared a heritage building.
