Commissioner Reviews Waste Management Model in HSR Layout

The Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner inspected the waste management system in HSR Layout and highlighted it as a model for effective civic participation and decentralized waste processing.

Key Details:

• Commissioner K.N. Ramesh visited HSR Layout on April 26, 2026 to review waste management practices

• Approximately 5 tonnes of dry waste processed daily at the Dry Waste Collection Centre (DWCC)

4 tonnes recycled

• 1 tonne of low-value plastic (LVP) sent to waste-to-energy plant in Bidadi

• Residents and HSR Citizen Forum volunteers actively monitor waste collection operations

• Separate vehicle system maintained for dry waste collection

• 500 kg of wet waste from around 600 households processed locally into compost

• Compost reused by residents for gardening purposes

• Leaf composting activity observed at Dara Bendre Park in collaboration with NGOs
