Commissioner Inspects Waterlogging-Prone Locations in BNCC Areas

Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar conducted inspections at waterlogging-prone locations identified by the Bengaluru Traffic Police and directed officials to strengthen coordination and preventive measures during the monsoon season.

Key Details:

  • Bengaluru Traffic Police identified 81 waterlogging-prone locations within areas linked to BNCC.
  • BNCC has already resolved issues at 50 locations.
  • Works are currently underway at 4 locations.
  • Desilting operations are in progress at 2 locations.
  • Corporation engineers reported that 20 locations fall outside BNCC jurisdiction.
  • The Commissioner carried out spot inspections to verify such locations.

Hennur–Bagalur Main Road Inspection

  • The Commissioner inspected the storm water drain near Sparsh Hospital on Hennur–Bagalur Main Road.
  • Officials briefed him on waterlogging issues occurring during heavy rainfall.
  • Directions were issued to remove floating waste and obstructions affecting rainwater flow.
  • The drain area falls under both Bengaluru North City Corporation and Bengaluru East City Corporation.
  • Officials were instructed to coordinate with the East Corporation for effective mitigation.

KR Puram Area Inspection

  • Another inspection was conducted at a waterlogging-prone stretch on Vaddarapalya Road, KR Puram.
  • As the location falls under Bengaluru East City Corporation limits, BNCC officials were directed to coordinate with East Corporation engineers and ensure preventive measures are taken.

Additional Directions

  • BNCC engineers were instructed to implement precautionary measures at all vulnerable locations within BNCC limits.
  • Officials were asked to address contributing factors originating inside BNCC areas, even when flooding occurs outside its jurisdiction.
  • Priority was given to inter-corporation coordination for resolving cross-jurisdiction drainage issues.
  • BNCC will continue monsoon preparedness activities, including:

Storm water drain maintenance

  • Desilting operations
  • Improvements to rainwater drainage systems
