Commissioner Inspects Dog Shelter Construction Work in Sumanahalli

Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V. inspected the ongoing construction work of the dog shelter at Sumanahalli on May 20. The Commissioner directed officials to expedite the work and ensure accommodation for at least 100 dogs within a month.

Key Details:

• The inspection was conducted at the dog shelter construction site in Sumanahalli.

• The Commissioner instructed officials to complete the work on priority.

• The shelter should be capable of housing at least 100 dogs within one month.

• Plans were also discussed to expand the shelter capacity in phases.

• An Animal Birth Control (ABC) Center and a Solid Waste Management unit are currently functioning in the same premises.

• Officials were directed to shift the Solid Waste Management unit to a nearby location.

• The space vacated should be used to expand the ABC Center capacity.

• The Commissioner also inspected the human and animal electric crematorium facilities in the complex.

Commissioner’s Directions:

• Expedite the dog shelter construction work.

• Provide shelter facilities for at least 100 dogs within a month.

• Relocate the Solid Waste Management unit to an adjacent site.

• Utilize the freed-up space to increase the ABC Center capacity.

• Strengthen animal care infrastructure within the facility.
