CM D K Shivakumar Lays Foundation Stone for Toll-Free Hebbal Twin Tunnel Road

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on June 28 laid the foundation stone for a 2.5-km toll-free twin three-lane tunnel road between Mekhri Circle and Hebbal Junction. The project, being implemented by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving travel across north Bengaluru.

• Chief Minister D K Shivakumar inaugurated the foundation stone ceremony on June 28.

• The project is a 2.5-km cut-and-cover twin three-lane tunnel connecting Mekhri Circle and Hebbal Junction.

• The tunnel road will be toll-free.

• The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is funding and executing the project using its own resources.

• The Chief Minister said the project is part of the government’s long-term plan to ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion.

• He also stated that a proposal has been submitted for a 17-km tunnel corridor connecting Hebbal and Silk Institute, which is expected to be completed in three to four years if approved.

• According to the Chief Minister, the tunnel projects are intended to reduce travel time and improve connectivity across the city.
