Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan has instructed engineering officials to accelerate drain desilting, road asphalting, and footpath development works across the corporation limits. Officials have also been directed to clear desilted waste within two days to avoid inconvenience to the public.

- Commissioner Rajendra Cholan chaired a progress review meeting with Engineering Department officials on May 25.
- Officials were instructed to speed up:
Roadside drain desilting
- Major stormwater drain silt removal
- Footpath development
- Road asphalting works
- Works are being undertaken under:
Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Special Development Scheme
- Other special development projects
- Desilted waste removed from drains must be cleared within two days.
- The Commissioner noted that prolonged dumping of silt on roads and footpaths causes:
Traffic disruption
- Pedestrian inconvenience
- Potential public health concerns
- Under the supervision of the Additional Commissioner (Development):
Joint Commissioners
- Chief Engineers
- Superintendent Engineers
- Each oversee approximately 50 km stretches for field inspections and monitoring.
- Contractors engaged under Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) have been instructed to urgently complete desilting works.
