BWCC Hosts Dog Adoption Mela to Promote Human–Animal Coexistence

Bengaluru West City Corporation (BWCC) organized a dog adoption mela at Jnana Bharathi Campus on April 25, 2026, marking World Veterinary Day. The initiative focused on promoting adoption of native dogs and encouraging responsible pet ownership.

• Demonstration of safe dog-catching using trap cages

• Demonistrated by trained Indian dogs in collaboration with organizations

Recognition & Participation:

• 14 new adopters were felicitated

• 18 individuals who adopted 35+ dogs recognized

• 3 contributors who encouraged adoption of 300+ dogs honored

• Commissioner acknowledged humane efforts of pet adopters

World Veterinary Day Observance:

• Veterinarians from multiple corporations participated

• Rabies and combined vaccines administered to attending dogs

New Initiative:

• Introduction of trap cages for safe dog handling in large areas
