BNCC Issues Pre-Monsoon Preparedness Directions to Multiple Departments

The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has issued instructions to multiple government departments and agencies to undertake precautionary measures ahead of the pre-monsoon and monsoon season following inspections conducted across the city on 05-05-2026.

Key Details:

  • BNCC Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar conducted inspections at multiple locations and reviewed monsoon preparedness measures. Separate letters have been issued to departments and agencies including:

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

  • Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)
  • Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)
  • Indian Railways
  • K-RIDE
  • Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL)
  • BMRCL
  • BESCOM
  • B-Style

Departments Directed To:

  • Maintain roads, drains, footpaths, flyovers, and underground drainage systems.
  • Undertake desilting of drains.
  • Fill potholes before the monsoon season.
  • Remove roadside debris and construction waste.
  • Prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth rainwater flow.
  • Repair damaged roads, drains, and footpaths caused by ongoing infrastructure works.

Specific Directions to BESCOM:

  • Replace damaged or dangerous electric poles.
  • Maintain electrical panel boards safely.
  • Shift HT cables underground where required.
  • Restore roads properly after road-cutting works.

Safety Measures Ordered:

  • Departments have been instructed to inspect compound walls and buildings protecting departmental properties.
  • Unsafe structures must be removed immediately to avoid public safety risks during heavy rains.

Coordination Measures:

  • BNCC has directed all departments to work in coordination to minimize inconvenience to the public and prevent damage to public and government properties during the monsoon season.
