BNCC Intensifies Mosquito Source Reduction Drive to Prevent Dengue Spread

The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) conducted an intensive mosquito source reduction drive across multiple locations on July 18 as part of its ongoing dengue prevention campaign. The initiative focused on eliminating mosquito breeding sites, raising public awareness, and encouraging community participation.

• The drive was conducted under the directions of BNCC Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar.

• Health Department officials and field staff inspected:

Residential areas

• Parks

• Nurseries

• Construction sites

• Vacant plots

• Other public places

• Stagnant water sources identified as mosquito breeding grounds were removed.

• Officials educated residents on dengue prevention and maintaining clean surroundings.

• Citizens were advised to:

Regularly empty and clean water storage containers.

• Dispose of old tyres, coconut shells, and other rainwater-collecting items.

• Keep overhead tanks and water storage containers tightly covered.

• Cooperate with Health Department inspections and awareness activities.

• BNCC stated it will continue surveillance, mosquito source reduction measures, and public awareness campaigns to help prevent the spread of dengue.
