Bengaluru West City Commissioner Inspects Hosakerehalli and Halagevaderahalli Lakes

Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V. inspected Hosakerehalli Lake and Halagevaderahalli Lake in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency on July 2. During the visit, he reviewed lake development, water quality concerns, and other civic issues, and directed officials to take appropriate action.

Key Details:

• The Commissioner inspected Hosakerehalli Lake and Halagevaderahalli Lake.

• Officials were directed to prepare a comprehensive development plan and cost estimate for Hosakerehalli Lake.

• Development works include desilting, repairing damaged fencing, constructing a pedestrian walkway, and installing high-resolution CCTV cameras.

• Marshals and Home Guards were instructed to monitor the lake area to prevent pollution, garbage dumping, and other violations.

• The Commissioner noted that desilting is expected to improve groundwater recharge and increase nearby borewell water levels.

• At Halagevaderahalli Lake, concerns were raised about foul smell and water pollution reportedly linked to discharge from a BWSSB Sewage Treatment Plant.

• BWSSB engineers were instructed to conduct lake water quality tests every 15 days and submit reports to the Corporation.

• Officials were also directed to request the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to independently test the lake water.

• A survey of the Halagevaderahalli Lake area was ordered to facilitate early completion of development works.

• Citizens also raised issues related to solid waste management, black spots, footpath encroachments, and afforestation, for which officials were instructed to take necessary action.
