Bengaluru East Directs Completion of Geddalahalli Railway Vent Work Before May-End

Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner Ramesh D.S. inspected the ongoing railway vent and stormwater drain maintenance works at Geddalahalli Sai Layout and directed officials to complete the pending 12-metre box pushing work before May 31, 2026, to improve rainwater flow and reduce flooding risks.

Key Details:

• Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner Ramesh D.S. conducted a site inspection at Geddalahalli Sai Layout on 23 May 2026.

• Around 12 metres of box pushing work under the railway vent project remains pending.

• Officials were instructed to complete the remaining work before 31 May 2026.

• The Commissioner stated that retaining wall construction will begin immediately after completion of the railway vent work.

• The project aims to ensure smooth rainwater flow and provide a permanent solution to flooding in surrounding areas.

• Desilting and cleaning works under the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) near Geddalahalli Rajakaluve were also reviewed.

• Officials were directed to clean side drains connected to major roads to prevent water stagnation during the monsoon.

• Maintenance works in upstream drain areas near the Sarvagnanagar Assembly Constituency border were inspected.

• The Commissioner instructed departments to coordinate and complete comprehensive drain maintenance to reduce downstream flooding risks.

• Officials were directed to prioritise monsoon preparedness measures across all stormwater drains within Bengaluru East City Corporation limits.

• Executive Engineer Raghavendra B.N., Assistant Executive Engineers, and other officials were present during the inspection.
