Bengaluru East Corporation Intensifies Flood Prevention Measures Ahead of Monsoon

Bengaluru East City Corporation Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar inspected flood-prone areas and directed officials to prioritize permanent solutions to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon. Bengaluru, 22 June 2026

• Desilting work at Gandhipuram Colony, Vijayanagar has been ordered to be completed on priority.

• Immediate measures were directed to address recurring waterlogging near Manipal Hospital, Varthur Kodi on Whitefield Main Road.

• Officials were instructed to complete surveys and remove encroachments delaying the World Bank-funded storm water drain project.

• Open sections of the box drain near Manipal Hospital will be covered with concrete slabs to improve public safety.

• Storm water drain development from Manipal Hospital to Prestige Ozone Apartments will be accelerated.

• Continuous monitoring and maintenance of drains in low-lying areas have been ordered to minimize public inconvenience during the rainy season.
