Bengaluru East City Corporation Clears 318 Footpath Encroachments Across 10.3 km

Bengaluru East City Corporation continued its special footpath encroachment clearance drive, removing 318 encroachments across 10.3 km on the fourth day of the operation. The drive aims to improve pedestrian safety and ensure obstruction-free walkways across multiple divisions.

Key Details:

• The operation was conducted on 4 July 2026 across eight divisions of Bengaluru East City Corporation.

• Commissioner D.S. Ramesh stated that the drive is being carried out under the directions of the Hon’ble Greater Bengaluru Development Minister.

• Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar and Joint Commissioner Dr. Sudha inspected the ongoing clearance work on T.C. Palya Main Road, Ramamurthy Nagar.

• Encroachments removed included petty shops, pushcarts, temporary sheds, canopies, illegal cables, advertisement boards, ramps, steps, compound wall extensions and construction debris.

• The drive was carried out with support from the Traffic Police, Law and Order Police and other departments.

• Whitefield Division: 1.2 km

• Kadugodi Division: 1.5 km

• Doddanekkundi Division: 2.25 km

• Ramamurthy Nagar Division: 1.5 km

• HAL Division: 1 km

• Horamavu Division: 0.6 km

• 40 petty shops

• 23 pushcarts

• 85 canopies

• 42 steps, ramps and compound wall encroachments

• 124 advertisement boards, banners and flex boards

• 4 temporary sheds

• 53.5 tonnes of construction debris removed
