Bengaluru Central City Issues Monsoon Preparedness Directives for Civic Works

The Bengaluru Central City Corporation has issued comprehensive directions to expedite drainage maintenance, road works, and tree clearance activities as part of monsoon preparedness measures. The instructions were issued by Commissioner Shri Rajendra Cholan during a review meeting with engineering department officials on May 22 in Bengaluru.

Key Details:

• Commissioner directed immediate completion of drain desilting works to ensure smooth rainwater flow during monsoon.

• Instructions issued to clear silt and obstructions in storm water drains (SWDs) to prevent flooding and waterlogging.

• Additional teams to be formed for removal of hazardous trees and branches to ensure public safety during heavy rains and winds.

• Forest Department directed to identify and remove dried and dangerous trees within corporation limits.

• Road asphalting works under Special Development Schemes to be expedited and completed within one week.

• Strict action to be taken against engineers if road works are delayed.

• Priority given to pothole repair and completion of CC roads before peak monsoon period.
