BECC Launches Awareness Rally Ahead of Pulse Polio Campaign

The Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) organised a Polio Awareness Bike Rally on 27 June 2026 to promote the National Pulse Polio Campaign. Commissioner D.S. Ramesh urged parents to ensure every child below five years receives the mandatory two drops of the polio vaccine during the campaign on 28 June 2026.

Key Details:

• A Polio Awareness Bike Rally was organised by the Public Health Department of Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) in collaboration with Humanity Calls Trust and Bikers Unity Club India.

• The rally was flagged off by BECC Commissioner D.S. Ramesh from the Bengaluru East City Corporation Headquarters and concluded at K.R. Puram Government Hospital.

• More than 60 bikers participated, spreading awareness with slogans encouraging parents to vaccinate all children below five years of age.

National Pulse Polio Campaign – 28 June 2026

BECC has made extensive preparations across its jurisdiction for the campaign:

• 601+ Pulse Polio vaccination booths established.

• 174,688 children below five years identified for vaccination.

• 109 supervisors and 2,106 volunteers deployed.

• 87 transit booths and 62 mobile vaccination teams arranged.

• The campaign aims to ensure every eligible child receives two drops of the polio vaccine.

Door-to-Door Vaccination

Special teams will administer polio drops at:

• Bus stands

• Railway stations

• Metro stations

• Construction sites

• Migrant workers’ settlements

• Other crowded public locations

Health teams will also conduct door-to-door visits to vaccinate children who cannot reach fixed vaccination centres

Public Appeal

Commissioner D.S. Ramesh appealed to parents to bring all children below five years of age to the nearest Pulse Polio vaccination centre on 28 June 2026. He also encouraged citizens to spread awareness among family members, neighbours, and friends to help maintain India’s polio-free status.
