BBMP Clarification on Road Pothole Repair Costs in Chamrajapet Division

Bengaluru Central City Corporation has issued an official clarification regarding media reports on pothole repair costs in Chamrajapet division. The reports suggesting ₹1 lakh expenditure per pothole have been stated as inaccurate.

Key Details:

• Media reports dated 29-04-2026 claimed that ₹1 lakh was spent per pothole in Chamrajapet division.

• Authorities clarified that:

A total grant of ₹105 lakh has been allocated for 7 wards in Chamrajapet division.

• Each ward received ₹15 lakh for pothole repair works.

• Tenders for pothole repairs were issued at the subdivision level, with work orders effective from 27-05-2025 for a one-year period.

• As per legislative query (Question No. 1367):

350 potholes had been filled at the time of reporting.

• No fixed per-pothole cost was submitted.

• Payments are made based on Schedule of Rates (SR) and contractor-quoted rates.

• The work order remains valid until May 2026, and pothole repairs will continue until the contract period ends.
