Bengaluru North City Corporation conducted a large-scale Footpath Walk across all seven divisions on Day 5 of the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26 Mega Cleanliness Drive. A total of 2,839 participants walked 72.68 km to identify pedestrian obstacles and promote walkable public spaces.

Key Details

  • A week-long “Mega Cleanliness Drive for a Beautiful City” is being conducted across 7 divisions of Bengaluru North City Corporation from March 1, 2026, under the guidance of Commissioner Sri Pommala Sunil Kumar.
  • On Day 5 (March 5, 2026), a Footpath Walk programme was organized across all wards for about two hours in the morning.
  • 2,839 participants, including RWAs, citizens, volunteers, and students, took part.
  • Participants covered a total distance of 72.68 km.

Dasarahalli Division Walk

  • 28 obstacles identified
  • Total obstacles identified: 131 minor issues across all divisions.

Participants noted that most footpaths were clean, green, and convenient for walking, though minor improvements were suggested.

  • With today’s 72.68 km walk, the total distance covered under the initiative has reached 112.68 km within the North City Corporation limits.

  • The Project Walkaluru initiative is a collaborative effort between the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and citizens to:

  • Promote the vision of a walkable Bengaluru.
