Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls Begins Across Bengaluru South Division

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated the *Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the voter list and that duplicate, shifted, deceased, or otherwise ineligible entries are removed. Karnataka has been included under Phase III of the nationwide exercise*.

Key Details:

  • The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is being conducted under the powers granted by Article 324 of the Constitution of India and the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
  • Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and their supervisors have been provided with special training for the revision process.
  • BLOs will conduct door-to-door verification and distribute voter registration and correction forms.
  • Filled applications will be collected on-site during household visits.
  • The exercise aims to:

Add eligible new voters.

  • Remove duplicate entries.
  • Delete names of shifted or deceased voters.
  • Correct inaccurate voter information.

Participation of Political Parties

To maintain transparency and accuracy, political parties may appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to participate in and observe the survey process alongside election officials.
