The Bengaluru South City Corporation has announced action against property tax defaulters in the Bommanahalli Zone. A total of 50 properties with pending property tax dues will be taken up for distress sale proceedings to recover unpaid taxes.

Background

  • Under the Greater Bengaluru Administration Act 2025, the former BBMP has been reorganized under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) into five separate city corporations.
  • The Bengaluru South City Corporation collects property tax from properties within its jurisdiction to fund basic civic infrastructure and services.
  • As per Property Tax Assessment, Collection and Management Rules 2024, property owners must pay tax every financial year.

Authorities stated that several steps were taken before initiating auction proceedings:

  • Show-cause notices issued to defaulters
  • Demand notices for tax payment
  • Repeated mobile SMS reminders
  • Adequate time provided to clear dues

Previous Auction Attempts

  • 21 February 2026:

30 properties were scheduled for auction

  • 13 owners paid dues on the spot
  • 27 February 2026:

17 remaining properties + 33 additional properties identified

  • 14 owners cleared dues before auction

Current Action

  • 50 high-value tax default properties in Bommanahalli Zone have now been identified for distress sale under GBA regulations.
  • The list of properties is displayed on the notice board at the Bommanahalli Zone Joint Commissioner’s office.

Important Note for Property Owners

If the full pending property tax is paid before the auction, the concerned property will be removed from the distress sale process.
