The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has announced the Bengaluru Green City Campaign (Bengaluru Hasirooru) from August 15 to September 15, aiming to increase tree cover through public participation and the Public-Private Planting Programme (PPPP).
Key Details:
- The Bengaluru Green City Campaign will be held from August 15 to September 15.
- GBA plans to plant 64,000 saplings across the city this financial year.
- 40,000 saplings will be distributed free to citizens on request.
- The campaign will be implemented through the Public-Private Planting Programme (PPPP).
- ₹9.64 crore has been allocated for plantation and three years of maintenance.
- RWAs and residents can apply online or by email before August 10.
- Saplings will be planted in residential layouts, roadsides, lakes, parks and other public spaces.
- Every sapling planted this year will have a geo-tagged tracking system.
- For every tree felled for development works, 10 saplings must be planted as compensation.
- The initiative was announced by Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
