Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda conducted an on-site inspection of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) corridor from Lowry Junction to Silk Board Junction, directing officials to address road safety, pedestrian infrastructure, service road repairs, and inter-agency coordination to improve civic infrastructure.
Key Details:
- Minister Krishna Byre Gowda inspected both carriageways of the Outer Ring Road between Lowry Junction and Silk Board Junction.
- The inspection was held to review the proposed B-SMILE project, which aims to upgrade the 17.1 km corridor from Silk Board Junction to Baiyappanahalli Metro Station to international design standards.
- Officials were instructed to:
Remove encroachments on footpaths.
- Correct low-hanging BESCOM power cables that pose risks to pedestrians.
- Repair damaged service roads without delay.
- Ensure uniform design standards for bus bays, service roads, footpaths, drains, and medians during corridor redevelopment.
- At Doddanekkundi Junction, the Minister expressed concern over potholes and unfinished service road repairs, directing Metro authorities to expedite restoration work.
- He questioned the excavation of recently asphalted roads and instructed officials to verify whether the work had been authorised by BESCOM or other utility agencies.
- Officials were directed to immediately restore excavated road sections and take action if road-cutting had been carried out without permission.
