Minister Krishna Byre Gowda Inspects Outer Ring Road Corridor

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda conducted an on-site inspection of the Outer Ring Road corridor from Lowry Junction to Silk Board Junction to review the proposed B-SMILE road redevelopment project and assess existing civic infrastructure. During the inspection, the minister issued multiple directions to officials to address road conditions, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and utility coordination.

• The inspection is part of preparations for the B-SMILE project, which proposes to redevelop the 17.1 km stretch from Silk Board Junction to Baiyappanahalli Metro Station to international design standards.

Directions Issued During the Inspection

• Lowry Junction

Remove encroachments on footpaths after verification.

• Relocate or secure low-hanging BESCOM cables posing risks to pedestrians.

• Repair damaged service roads.

• Ensure a uniform design for bus bays, service roads, footpaths, drains, and medians during redevelopment.

• Doddanekkundi Junction

Immediately repair potholes on service roads.

• Address road damage affecting vehicle movement.

• Investigate unauthorized road excavation after recent resurfacing.

• Take action against unauthorized utility works if permissions were not obtained.

• Restore excavated road sections without delay.

• Prepare and implement a traffic management plan.

• Develop the area beneath the flyover on the lines of improvements carried out at Shivananda Circle.

• Kodibisanahalli Junction

Prepare a model traffic management design.

• Install temporary kerbs on a trial basis to reduce congestion.

• Improve turning radius to enhance traffic flow.

• Devarabisanahalli Junction

Implement measures to reduce traffic congestion.

• Bellandur – Ecospace

Shift major BWSSB pipelines underground.

• Develop the rajakaluve alongside road widening works.

• Extend the existing skywalk to improve pedestrian connectivity to the service road.

Expedite construction of a new flyover.

• Take steps to provide a free left turn near Sun City Apartment.
