Kempegowda Jayanti to Be Held at Kempegowda Layout on June 27, Says CM D K Shivakumar

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has announced that this year’s Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti will be celebrated on June 27 at the newly developed Kempegowda Layout in Bengaluru. The event will also mark the launch of a citywide drive to plant 15 lakh saplings. Grants of ₹1 lakh each will be provided for celebrations in all 224 Assembly constituencies and Bengaluru’s 369 wards.

• Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti will be held at 11.30 am on June 27.

• Venue: Newly developed Kempegowda Layout.

• A citywide initiative to plant 15 lakh saplings will be launched during the celebrations.

• A new road within Kempegowda Layout will be inaugurated.

• Teams representing the four Kempegowda towers in Bengaluru will participate in the event.

• Separate celebrations will be conducted across all 224 Assembly constituencies with a grant of ₹1 lakh each.

• The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will provide ₹1 lakh each for celebrations in Bengaluru’s 369 wards on a separate date.

• The date for ward-level programmes will be decided by the Minister for Bengaluru City.

• Preparations are underway to establish a Town Planning College named after Kempegowda within the Visvesvaraya Technological University campus.

• The Kempegowda Theme Park near Kempegowda International Airport has been completed and preparations are being made to open it to the public.

Suggestions Discussed During the Preparatory Meeting

Among the proposals discussed were:

• Development of Kempegowda’s burial site over 10 acres.

• Development of Kempegowda Fort under a ₹100 crore tender.

• Formation of a Kempegowda Award Selection Committee within GBA limits.

• Declaring Nadaprabhu Kempegowda as Bengaluru’s cultural icon.

• Construction of Kempegowda District Bhavans across Karnataka.

• Establishment of an international park and community hall in Kempegowda’s name.

• Creation of a Kempegowda museum.

• Lake rejuvenation initiatives in memory of Kempegowda.

• Public awareness workshops on water management based on the Swaminathan Report.

• Inclusion of Kempegowda’s life history in textbooks.

• Declaration of a government holiday on Kempegowda Jayanti.

• Installation of large stone statues of Kempegowda in four directions of the city.

• Development of Avathi village in Bengaluru Rural district.
