The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued a public notice directing government bodies, private organizations, industries, institutions, and property owners to apply for official permission to remove dry, dangerous, or structurally weak trees and branches within their premises to prevent accidents and property damage.

  • The notice was issued on May 14 by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Property owners, administrators, and institutional heads are directly responsible for monitoring dangerous or dried trees and branches within their premises. The directive applies to:

Government offices

  • Private institutions
  • Factories and industries
  • Companies
  • Residential and commercial property owners
  • As per:

Karnataka Tree Preservation Act, 1976 – Section 8(2)

  • Karnataka Tree Preservation Rules, 1977 – Rule 4(1)
  • prior approval is mandatory before removing hazardous trees or branches. Applications must be submitted in Form-1 to the designated forest authorities under GBA and the five city corporations.
