GBA Orders Removal of Unsafe Walls After Rain Damage in Bengaluru

Following recent heavy rains and storm damage, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has initiated action to identify and remove unsafe compound walls and buildings across city corporations, including demolitions on Binnymill Road and Mysore Lamps premises.

• Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed immediate identification and removal of dilapidated walls and unsafe structures across GBA limits.

• The directive follows heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hailstorms on April 29 that caused widespread damage.

• A wall collapse at Bowring Hospital resulted in fatalities and highlighted structural safety risks.

• Special teams comprising Fire Services, Police, and Corporation officials have been formed for preventive action.

• Officials across all five City Corporations have been instructed to monitor and act on hazardous structures.
