GBA Issues Pre-Monsoon Preparedness Instructions Across City Corporations

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has directed all five city corporations to implement pre-monsoon preparedness measures, focusing on flood prevention, drain maintenance, and coordinated disaster response.

Key Details:

• Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao issued a circular mandating pre-monsoon readiness across GBA limits.

• Disaster management responsibility lies with respective City Corporation Commissioners.

• 49 flood-prone areas (2025) identified out of 209 previously listed locations must be reviewed for permanent solutions.

• Chief Engineers and Additional Commissioners must ensure implementation and submit action reports.

Infrastructure & Flood Prevention Measures:

• Stormwater Drains (SWD):

Priority completion of Rajakaluve development works in flood-prone areas.

• Ensure full desilting of SWDs for smooth rainwater flow.

• Drain Cleaning:

All roadside drains to be desilted by end of April.

• Focus on CMIDP and SIP project areas.

• Ensure proper connectivity between drains and SWDs.

• Geddalahalli Railway Vent:

Works to expand railway vents to prevent flooding in:

• Pai Layout

• HBR Layout
