GBA Directs “Prahari” Vehicle Parade for Monsoon Emergency Preparedness

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed all city corporations under the GBA jurisdiction to immediately organize “Prahari” vehicle parades to strengthen monsoon emergency preparedness across the city.

Key Details:

• The direction was issued during a coordination meeting held at the GBA headquarters.

• Officials have been instructed to inspect all emergency equipment installed in “Prahari” vehicles and ensure full operational readiness for rain-related emergencies.

• City corporations must also inspect tree-cutting machinery, emergency vehicles, and related equipment, and submit a detailed preparedness report within one week.

• Joint inspections of railway underpasses prone to flooding and waterlogging will be conducted by municipal and railway officials.

• Authorities have been directed to review control rooms and emergency response systems to ensure adequate facilities, staffing, and preparedness during heavy rainfall and flood situations.

• GBA has also instructed officials to examine the procurement of additional litter pickers to strengthen city cleanliness and waste management.

• Immediate cleaning, maintenance, and desilting of road medians have been ordered.

• Dilapidated buildings and dangerous compound walls identified as public safety risks are to be removed on priority.

• Strict legal action, including filing of cases, has been warned against unauthorized road cutting without prior approval.

• Regular monitoring of flood-prone areas and preventive action for heavy rain and flooding have been emphasized.
