GBA Directs Mock Drills and Monsoon Preparedness Measures Across City Corporations
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has instructed all city corporations to conduct mock drills and strengthen preparedness for pre monsoon and monsoon conditions .

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has instructed all city corporations to conduct mock drills and strengthen preparedness for pre-monsoon and monsoon conditions. The directions were issued following a high-level meeting chaired by the Urban Development Department.



Key Details:
- Mock drills to be conducted at each city corporation level through Rapid Response Teams
- Focus on coordination between departments during rain, flood, or emergency situations
- Instructions issued by Special Commissioner (FECC), Sushma Godbole
Preparedness Measures Directed:
- Mist Spray Systems
Feasibility study to install mist spray systems at major and long-duration traffic signals to reduce heat impact on pedestrians
- Rain Information Access
Citizens can access rainfall and flood forecasts via KSNDMC’s Varunamitra portal: http://varunamitra.karnataka.gov.in
- Rapid Response Team Planning
Forest Department to prepare lists for clearing fallen trees and branches
- Temporary storage locations for debris to be identified
- Volunteer & Medical Support Identification
NSS, NCC, self-help groups, volunteers, and local doctors to be identified
- Report submission required by end of April 2026
- Hospital Mapping
Area-wise hospital mapping to be completed for emergency medical response
- Flood Management Action Plans
All five city corporations to submit consolidated flood management plans
- Deadline: 30 April 2026
- Inter-Department Coordination
BESCOM, BWSSB, Traffic Police, civic departments, NGOs, and volunteers to be integrated into response planning
