GBA Directs Drone Surveys for Stormwater Drain Desilting

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has instructed officials to conduct drone-based surveys before and after desilting stormwater drains to improve pre-monsoon preparedness and flood mitigation across Bengaluru.

Key Details:

• Drone surveys to be conducted before and after desilting of stormwater drains

• Detailed reports must be submitted to monitor effectiveness

• Choking points to be identified using drone visuals and repaired promptly

• Desilting work to be prioritized ahead of pre-monsoon rains

• Officials instructed to inspect flood–prone areas in person

Monsoon Preparedness Measures:

• Side drains and shoulder drains to be cleared and maintained

• Subdivision-level control rooms to be activated

• Officials from city corporations, BESCOM, and BWSSB to be deployed

• Lists of SDRF and NDRF personnel to be prepared

• Necessary monsoon equipment to be kept ready

Coordination & Response:

• Coordination with Fire and Emergency Services across:

75 divisions

• 150 subdivisions

• 20 fire stations

• WhatsApp groups to be created for real-time coordination

• Commissioners to ensure continuous communication with fire teams

Inter-Departmental Actions:

• Immediate removal of drainage obstructions at worksites of:

BWSSB

• BMRCL

• Railways

• K-RIDE

• Installation of cameras near stormwater drains

• Coordination with KSNDMC for repair works

Tree and Emergency Management:

• Deployment of additional teams to clear fallen trees and branches

• Identification of temporary storage locations for debris

• Authorities directed to respond quickly
