GBA Directs Civic Bodies to Complete Development Works by April End

- The directive follows instructions from Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar.
- Development works are currently underway across five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
- Major infrastructure initiatives discussed during the meeting include:
Ward development works under the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development Programme with an allocation of ₹1,000 crore.
- Road asphalting works for major and sub-arterial roads under the Capital Support Scheme for Special Infrastructure with an allocation of ₹1,241 crore.
- Development of Suraksha-75 road junctions to improve road safety and traffic management.


Key Instructions Issued
- All corporations must immediately begin pending road development works.
- Desilting of stormwater drains must be completed before the monsoon season.
- Asphalting works should be carried out day and night and completed before the end of April.
- Officials must submit progress reports with photographs once work begins.
Suraksha-75 Junction Development
- Junction works under the Suraksha-75 project must begin within one week.
- Urban planners and experts from WRI (World Resources Institute) will inspect junction locations along with the Planning and Coordination Division.
- GFC (Good For Construction) drawings must be reviewed before implementation.
- The project aims to:
Improve pedestrian safety
- Ensure safer road crossings
- Enhance traffic flow and usability of junctions
- The Quality Control divisions of city corporations have been instructed to inspect junction works and ensure construction quality.

- Commissioner Rajendra Cholan stated that:
Road asphalting work has already started in most locations.
- Remaining works will begin shortly.
- Work on two Suraksha junctions has already started.
- Contractors may face contract cancellation and re-tendering if work does not begin within a week.
North City Corporation
- Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar stated that:
Officials have been instructed to complete road development works within the deadline.
- In some locations, junction development is delayed due to ongoing metro construction.
- Work in other locations will begin shortly.
