On Day 5 of the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26 Mega Cleanliness Drive, Bengaluru North City Corporation organized footpath walk activities across all divisions. A total of 2,839 participants walked 72.68 km to identify pedestrian obstacles and improve walkability across the city.

Key Details

  • As part of Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, a week-long “Mega Cleanliness Drive for a Beautiful City” is being conducted across 7 divisions of North City Corporation from March 1, 2026.
  • On Day 5 (March 5, 2026), a Footpath Walk (Pedestrian Walk Audit) was conducted across all wards.
  • 2,839 participants including RWAs, citizens, volunteers, and students participated in the programme.
  • Participants walked a total distance of 72.68 km to inspect footpaths and identify pedestrian obstacles.
  • Citizens were instructed to:

Walk along designated pedestrian routes

  • Identify obstacles forcing pedestrians onto roads
  • Document issues with photographs for further action.

Dasarahalli Division Walk

  • The Commissioner Sri Pommala Sunil Kumar led the walk along Hesaraghatta Main Road.
  • The event was conducted in the presence of Project Wakaloora Coordinator Arun Pai, Joint Commissioner Pallavi, AGM Lohith, and students from Saptagiri and Dhanvantari Colleges.
  • Around 200–250 participants walked approximately 4 km in this division.

  • 285 participants
  • 22 obstacles identified
  • RR Nagar Division:

6.61 km walk

  • 100 participants
  • 2 obstacles identified
  • Yelahanka Division:

3.6 km walk

  • 200 participants
  • No obstacles identified
  • Sarvagnanagara Division:

19.07 km walk

  • 435 participants
  • 28 obstacles identified
  • Total obstacles identified across divisions: 131 minor issues.

Participants noted that most footpaths were clean, green, and suitable for walking, though some minor improvements were suggested.

Milestone Achieved

  • With today’s walk of 72.68 km, the total footpath walk distance conducted so far within North City Corporation limits has reached 112.68 km.

Programme Objective

  • The Project Wakaloora initiative is a collaborative effort between GBA and citizens to:

Identify walkable pedestrian infrastructure

  • Encourage safe walking environments
  • Promote a vision of “Walkable Bengaluru”.
