Flood Prevention and Infrastructure Works Directed in Sai Layout and Surrounding Areas

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued multiple directives to prevent flooding in Sai Layout and accelerate key infrastructure works, including stormwater drain upgrades, road development, and waste management improvements across parts of the city.

Key Details

Temporary Flood Mitigation Measures

BBMP and BDA officials have been instructed to immediately inspect Sai Layout and implement temporary measures including water storage systems and pumping arrangements to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon.

Flood Prevention in Sai Layout

Stormwater drain improvement works are in progress near the railway track, including box pushing operations with a deadline of April 30, 2026. A second box structure is expected to be completed by May 30, 2026. RCC retaining wall construction is also being carried out alongside these works.

Stormwater Drain Maintenance

Complete desilting has been ordered in Hebbal Valley near the Geddalahalli railway vent to ensure smooth flow of rainwater during the monsoon.

Hennur–Bagalur Road Development

White topping work across a 5 km stretch is underway. Officials have been directed to deploy additional workforce, accelerate progress, and take up parallel development of footpaths and buffer zones.

Use of Trenchless Technology

Trenchless technology will be adopted for stormwater drain works beneath the railway track near Geddalahalli, along with culvert construction to connect the drain to the nearby rajakaluve.

Waste Management Update

In Sarvagnanagar constituency, approximately 200 tons of waste is being collected daily from six wards using 156 auto-tippers. Officials have been instructed to strengthen enforcement of waste segregation at source.

Pending Civic Works

Funds have been directed to be released for completing pending footpath work along Banaswadi 8th Main Road.

Public Infrastructure Actions

An unused public toilet on K. Narayanapura Road will be removed to improve vehicular movement.

Additional Local Instructions

Officials have been directed to undertake road and drainage improvements near Prakash Garden in Vaddarapalya, expedite asphalting work on Horamavu Agara Main Road, impose penalties for waste dumping on Babusapalya Main Road, and carry out pothole filling, culvert widening, and footpath construction in Sai Layout.
