Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed the contractor executing the Wind Tunnel Underpass project on Old Airport Road to deploy additional manpower and accelerate construction. Officials have been instructed to complete the project within the next three months.
Key Details:
- Additional manpower has been ordered to speed up construction.
- The inspection was conducted at the Wind Tunnel Junction near the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre on Old Airport Road.
- All major utility relocation works have been completed, including:
BWSSB water pipelines
- Underground sewer lines
- BESCOM power cables
- Optical Fibre Cables (OFC)
- Other underground utilities
- Retaining wall construction is currently underway.
- The Minister directed officials to complete the project within three months.
- Temporary roads will be created on land belonging to the Defence establishment, ISRO, National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), and certain private properties to minimise traffic disruption during construction.
- The underpass project is approximately 75% complete.
- The ₹19-crore project includes:
300-metre-long four-lane underpass
- 7.5-metre width on either side
- The next phase will involve installation of pre-fabricated box structures, followed by construction of service roads.
