Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority Rules, 2026 Notified

The Government of Karnataka has notified the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA) Rules, 2026, establishing the operational framework for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority under the BMLTA Act, 2022. The Rules came into effect following the public consultation process and define the Authority’s administrative and procedural functioning.

Key Details:

  • The draft BMLTA Rules were published on 03 January 2026 for public objections and suggestions.
  • After considering stakeholder feedback, the final Rules were notified on 02 July 2026.
  • The Rules provide the operational and administrative framework for the functioning of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority.
  • Non-official members may be nominated to the Authority and its Executive Committee.
  • Eligible non-official members must:

Be eminent persons with at least 15 years of experience in a relevant field.

  • Be ordinarily resident in Karnataka.
  • The Rules also prescribe procedures relating to:

Meetings of the Authority.

  • Notice periods.
  • Quorum requirements.
  • Conduct of business and administrative processes.
