Bengaluru East City Corporation conducted special enforcement and cleanliness drives across multiple areas between May 15 and May 26, 2026. The operations focused on removing unauthorised advertisements, clearing footpath encroachments, and cleaning garbage black spots across major roads and junctions.

Removal of Unauthorised Advertisements

More than 919 unauthorised banners, flexes and buntings were removed from public spaces across Bengaluru East City Corporation limits.

Major locations covered:

  • V.B. Layout Main Road, K.R. Pura
  • K.R. Pura Government College Road
  • T.C. Palya Circle to Medahalli Flyover stretch
  • Tin Factory area
  • Ramamurthy Nagar
  • Vijinapura
  • Varthur–Gunjur Road
  • Horamavu–Babusa Palya Main Road

The Corporation stated that unauthorised advertisements placed on electric poles, roadsides and public areas causing inconvenience to the public were removed during the drive.

Footpath Encroachment Clearance Drive

More than 362 encroachments obstructing pedestrian movement were cleared during the enforcement operation.

Encroachments removed included:

  • Illegal roadside shops
  • Temporary sheds
  • Push carts
  • Other unauthorised commercial structures
Major areas covered:
  • AECS Layout
  • Varthur Road
  • Marathahalli Bridge to Yemalur Junction stretch
  • Old Airport Road
  • K.R. Pura Railway Station surrounding areas
  • Ramamurthy Nagar Main Road
  • Bellandur Ecospace area

The Commissioner stated that awareness campaigns had already been conducted among roadside vendors before enforcement action was initiated against repeated violations.

Black Spot Clearance and Cleanliness Drive

Special cleanliness operations were undertaken in areas identified as garbage black spots.

Areas covered:

  • Horamavu Agara Lake Road
  • Vignan Nagar
  • Whitefield Inner Circle area

Nearly 20 tonnes of garbage, plastic waste, construction debris and other waste materials were removed during the operation.

Officials stated that the drive was undertaken to improve public health, maintain cleanliness and prevent waste accumulation during the monsoon season.
